I love this game and have pretty much been playing nonstop since I got it! Tho I am getting really annoyed at the fact of how powerful the aliens are I mean weapons that can shoot thru walls rockets that they can spam and they usually have about 6 chars with rockets that they spam all the while I am trying to move my guys in closer to be actually able to see and shoot at them while healing at the same time usually takes me about 20 tries to be able to defend my base when they attack me ~.~ buuut its fun and I am hoping they make another game for these awesome series one day.

If you micro mange your squad, you can avoid their rockets. Also, Reticulans are resilient to Psi based weapons, so as robots. Armors that Reticulans wear have high damage resistance against laser based weapon, so you should send in your robot first, and equip your Reticulan soldiers with Rifles or Shotguns(if you have). Sending in your human soldiers will likely get them mind controlled.

yea I kinda figured out that I was supposed to stop being friends with the first aliens so I could be allies with the new aliens who were far stronger lol mad the game 90% easier haha.
