combat question

well maybe not.. it isnt much combat its a i got my ♥♥♥♥ handed to me.. i have 1 gate i jump through and get hammered as soon as i do. 4 fighters and im a miner/trader build. I did upgrade to
C3 stuff, best weapons i could get but these guys hammer me bad.
I tried running for the port then found out thats not a force field and got blown up in there also.
Any idea on how best to handle that?
recruit ships to go or jump right away when i enter .. seems like running might be my only shot but i'd like to check out the station there. i also read somewhere that i should skip the tier 3 engines and use those upgrade points elswhere so maybe my shields are too weak? im just not sure what to do.. i shot 2 down blew up all the incomming missiles but my shields are fried after that and im a sitting duck with no energy.

Is that the gate from Sapphire to fauston or maybe thuban?
Have memory's of this happening to to me there.

One thing I do if I see a large group of fighters after going through a gate is turn off ids and hold down afterburner, fly fast through them dropping countermeasures.
AS soon as I have some speed up and I know nothing can touch me.
then I open navmap right click station and jump straight to the station.
Coming out of that jump I hold down afterburner until docked, then "enter station" button. Don't just stay in the docking bay area.

Later with some more combat experience or with all the right upgrades and a ship with lots of armor you can take them all all as soon as you come through the gate.

There was a lot of people at first with the steam cut price special.
