Portal 2 Crashing

I started up Portal 2 a few minutes ago and started up a new game. After about 10 seconds, the game freezes for a second and crashes, saying that portal2.exe has crashed. Here are my computer specs:

I don't see what kind of video card you have on the list there, but no problem. Make sure your graphic card drivers are up to date. This is one of the main causes for crashes like this.

If you are running an ATI card you can update your drivers through Steam directly by clicking "Titlebar Menu > Steam > Check for Video Driver Updates".

If you're using an nVidia card, follow the link with instructions here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

If it doesn't work after you have installed/rebooted, right click on Portal 2 in the Steam Library list, go to properties and hit on the local files tab. Click on the"Verify Integrity of game cache" button. Let it do its thing, once done, give it a try.

If the problem still persists let me know

On the other hand, recent ATI driver updates seem to have completely screwed with Source - if updating doesn't work, try disabling the Catalyst center entirely (that's provided you're using an amd/ati card). A lot of folks have recently complained about issues like this, and that seems to be the only thing that helps.
