Might pick this guy up...
I've been curious since I've seen this advertised on Steam a few times, and I was going through a few posts on this forum. Bottom line, looks like it's all around a well made game. But one thing I'm not too clear on, is it somewhat slower? When I say slower, like you'll need a lot of patience to build things up? Not like a stronghold kingdoms kind of slow, but also not a fast leveling up fast paced game such as Diablo or something. Sorry I hope my question makes some sense. I'm just trying to find out the time it takes for the gameplay.

There is a 'Slow' setting but yes, it's your usual long, drawn out civilization-type game.

I don't think it is that slow... of course right now people feel that way because when you're not used to the game, turns can take some time and you usually need a few turns to do anything.
Like you said, the game is rather polished, especially for an alpha. Once you know where everything is and what it does, turns can go by rather quickly. Now, it is a 4X type game... from start to finish, it will naturally take longer than your average strategy game, but probably not as long as Civilization for example. |

That's fine with me honestly. I don't know if any of you have ever played the new F2P stronghold kingdoms game that's on Steam, but that game can take DAYS to get stuff done haha.

That, of course, is why I love it. I like long games. Sometimes I just want to blow stuff up, but for the most part I like building a world in my mind as I play. |

If you want a game with a fast start, create a crowded galaxy (small with lots of enemies). If you want a slower game, create a huge galaxy with very few enemies. Even then, I don't think it's that slow to get into conflict.
Personally, I prefer games where I can take my time building an empire before I get into a war. But everyone has their own preferences. |
