Game is UNPLAYABLE!

Between crashing when trying to save a new design and constant hiccups durring game play I want to know how this game was released in this condition and what is being done about it!

The developer (me) will release a patch today, but it seems 95% of the problems are being caused by steam, not the game. Running the game outside of steasm seems to fix almost all of them, as others on the forum can testify.

I'm thinking of getting this game. How can I run the game outside of Steam, if I purchase the game via Steam?

you just find the GTB.exe file in windows explorer inside your \steam\steamappa\gratuuitous tank battles folder, and double click it.
I have suspicions todays patch may fix many issues anyway though...

Hey Cliff, long time.

Glad to see your still releasing some quality games! I remember first hearing of Positech during the EA Spore debacle and the beginning of the ugly DRM era. Cliff or Positech was one of first developers to go no DRM. This was before GOG was even an idea. I was so impressed by his stance, I ended up buying his entire catalog of games that day. Glad to see your still plucking away at this Cliff.

Doesn't seem like the patch did anything for me. Still getting a really bad stuttering problem.

Confirm, 8:30pm PST and deleting any design crashes you. But if you run outside of Steam it works fine. So... file permissions thing?

they are the same file, so no idea...looks like steam interferes in some way even valve aren't sure about

Was running into the same issue. Thanks for this response; launching the game from the executable rather than Steam definately fixes this. Now I can play the game without stuttering & lagging to hell & back. Strange that a Steam game would cause these kinds of problems if Steam detects it as running.
