[THE FEEDBACK LOOP] - Do you want feedback on YOUR map?
[ THE FEEDBACK LOOP ] ================================================== ====================== ================================================== ================ As many of you have no doubt realised by now, it is very difficult to get good feedback on your map. There's simply too many maps on the workshop! If nobody plays your map, and so you get no feedback, how can you improve your mapmaking in the future? This thread is intended to be the solution. The rules are simple:
Easy! If you want feedback on your map, you must first review someone else's. This way EVERYONE will get feedback on their map! Do you want more feedback on your map? Then just keep reviewing new maps as they appear! Here's a suggested framework for feedback: Quote:

- I liked:
- I disliked: The very first puzzle seemed too simplistic compared to the end puzzles. - Difficulty (1-5):3 (End was tricky but not overly difficult.) - Logic part:
- Action part:
- Other:To add more "bling" to the end puzzle, you could truncate the begining part. I know people are all about lights. I don't like dark puzzles, but I don't care for bright either. Maybe shave off some lights and add red laser at the end or ... the lights you took off at the start. You could even add a portable panel that would in no one add the player. Just a red herring portable panel. I'm not going to leave my link just yet. I'm new to the forum here, so wanted to play some others before I do. Earn my wings so to speak. Hopefully you guys are still active on here. Last edited by TasteTheWine: 06-05-2012 at 08:06 PM. Reason: I'm a newb at the /quote /spoiler code... and spelling. I still fail.. Lol |

I liked the puzzle you have to get the cube. When you think you got the solution, there is something still missing, then you finally get what you have to do. I liked some of the level design (the tunnel with grating and hazard lasers below, created a good look, has no purpose, but has great visual. The cons: There is a lot a unnecessary walking (for example in the beginning of the level). There is a lot of puzzles that have no challenge (they are just fillers). The main problem is confusion. There is no clear goal. Almost everything you don't know what it does, you have to try first to find out. Best levels design comes from making it clear what everything does, letting the challenge be the puzzle. Try out my map: Faith: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...s/?id=74167753 Last edited by chjunior: 06-11-2012 at 03:17 AM. |

I will need to fix that! It's amazing how others look at a challenge/puzzle in a completely different way.EDIT: I gently tweaked my map to prevent the exploit discovered by sebastiannielse. Last edited by TheHolyChicken: 05-28-2012 at 02:01 PM. |

I am gonna play both Trajectory and Safecracker. Will leave feedback here and on the workshop for both maps.
This is mine Its is very easy but i was testing an idea more than thinking about the puzzle elements. I think you will enjoy what i was trying to achieve. Edit: (Trajectory) Good map. I had a giggle at the trap door and the tripple portal fling. Had to scratch my head for abit in the last room but over all i enjoyed it ![]() - Score (1-5): 4 (The fact that the tripple portal fling thing works so well bumped it from a 3.5) - I liked: X - Difficulty (1-5): 2.5 (scratch my head for a couple seconds in the last room) - Logic part: 3 - Action part: 3 Last edited by Tillytony: 05-28-2012 at 01:50 PM. |

Still my solution works:
1: cube is coming: http://i.imgur.com/BaW8S.jpg 2: cube touches edge of hole: http://i.imgur.com/hEDRH.jpg 3: and lays down beutifully: http://i.imgur.com/m9NNx.jpg (and of course, you dont take the cube with you down, instead you take the cube on your way up) Would suggest that you simply make the whole walls unportable if thats not part of the solution. Also about the thing with 4 platforms and faith plate, between 2 laser walls, is this the correct solution? http://i.imgur.com/tQIyM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AYytL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EPQdo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jnuy8.jpg |

- Action part:
- Other:I really liked this as I'm not a very logical person, I like beign able to see what I need to do, but have to figure out how to do it. If something is doing something around the corner.. I can hear, but not see. That can frustrate me. |

Okay that is two so far, I will do my best to do the rest.. if I can figure them out.
For now I think I can post mine now. "Tower Heist" http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...s/?id=74399748 I know I have a lighting issue. I wanted to add more, but like the TheHolyChicken, I reached max items in my chamber. I had to delete lights to get the feel I wanted. This is my first and so far only chamber. I worked on this for almost 4 weeks. I playtested a lot. Thank you for your time. /bow |
