Weird experience with my Monitor
When we use our monitor it usually generates heat, because it uses energy.
Last night I watched a movie and after the movie I fell asleep. I forgot to turn off my monitor, but I set my monitor to turn off after 30 minutes when no one is using it. When I woke up it didn't turn off! So I was worried and touched the back of my monitor and surprisingly it was cold, even the screen was cold. It was like it was turned off. What's going on? Shouldn't it be blazing hot since it's been on for 8 hours straight? |

hmmmm, im not sure, but im almost wondering if there was picture retention, i.e the picture stayed even though the actual pixels are not on. for example, i have an original game boy advance and it does the same thing these days. when i turn it off, the game picture sticks around for almost 10 seconds after switching it off, and you can watch the screen "melt away". i dunno if computer monitors can do the same thing, but that is the first thing that comes to mind according to ur explanation.

Considering you were asleep during the period you though the Monitor was off, it's a pretty difficult situation to claim issue on. Maybe it did turn off? Something turned it on not long before you woke up, a pet maybe? Something else? I'd not worry too much about it.

Perhaps the monitor cooled down because it was no longer doing anything active -- just displaying the same pixels over and over instead of running your movie at 24fps.

I was thinking that same thing, maybe monitors these days tend to use less energy when there's few movements on the screen. |
