Hey rotNdude i'm having trouble visiting 3 of the links (there may be more) in the above selection. Says they don't exist and it told me to tell an admin... which took me to the support site but i thought that would be a long and convoluted process (like this message ha) so here i am.
they are:

Ultimate Air Cooling

The RAM guide

Newer generation video cards and performance comparison

Sorry if you already knew this, im just trying to learn stuff and this is the best place to do so. and its so cozy.

Hey rotNdude, I've found a set of sites which have data taken from thousands of benchmarks of GPUs, CPUs and Hard drives which I reckon could settle a fair amount of disputes in this forum. Links underneath.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/index.php
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/index.php
http://www.harddrivebenchmark.net/index.php

Thought they might be able to be used in this thread.

YES. Thank you! That video card benchmark thingy is exactly what I needed. So often (always?) games' system requirements will just be something like "ZankMeister 660XS or better" and it's like, that doesn't tell me freaking anything! How should I know what is and isn't "better" than some random model I've never heard of? At least with CPUs they have numbers that mean stuff. Now I can just look it up and see that the ZankMeister 660XS has a rating of 240, and my card has a rating of 290, so I know I'm good to go. Props and a rep point to you for finding this!

RotNdude, you should remove www.coolprices.nl from the internet computer list as the company went bust just yesterday.

As an alternative for that there is http://www.informatique.nl/ This shop is very good in my opinion.

Thanks.

There are some dead links. I clicked the OB fix and it loads to a thread that is missing. You should give this a once over and click all the threads and see which ones are dead.
Only 2 of the first links actually worked.

Rot, you should add BestDirect in the line of Canadian retailers. They have the lowest prices with free shipping on large orders. It's a really useful site with REALLY fast shipping.

A Gigabyte 5850 is $252 on BestDirect, whereas it is $280+ everywhere else (Canadian sites, and even then, a lot of them have it for over $300).

Highly recommended.

A big question is whether Steam will support storing games in different folders on different drives. Is there any word on this happening?

SSD owners are having to use a crazy workaround to play their steam games so maybe until Steam fixes the system we could get that posted in here.
