Source ingame media player.

I wish to start a "petition" to ask valve to please reinstate the source ingame player. I used to find it quite useful, I used it instead of using an external program that would take cpu usage to a new level .

So please valve... Bring it home.

Why was it removed in the first place?

Also, now that Source still runs single-core, if you have a multi-core computer, you're not wasting any cycles for winamp or media player or whatever.

Also, fifthed.

Actually, You'd probably get better performance just using another program.

My frames dropped quite a bit when using it. (on my old rig... p4 2.6ghz, 440mx, 768mb ram)

They did have a media player in Source but the only thing wrong with it for example you would start a new round the song would skip. If steam can get it to work with out it skipping song every round it would work great.

I think the skipping has to do with the load. I don't know if there's a way to code around it skipping... on the systems I've run, there's always a bit of lag when loading new rounds or even joining games.

If a fix could be found, be it hardware or software, it would be wonderful, though. =)

Love the idea though! If there were problems leading to its removal, it'd be nice if they were fixed and if the player were re-implemented.

I nevered lagged while this happened, maybe on the first 2 secs MAX. This addition was a great idea and shouldn't have been removed. I wish for the valve guys to hear our cries.
