Cool Show your custom levels

Oki so here is the thread, so people can show off their own levels.

I'm going to try and get the image code to work in this forum.

So then you can post previews of them.

With forum user Sorimachi we are working on a website where you can upload your levels, download them, and rate them

Also I might do a section where the best mods will be.

So in the meantime if anyone wants to show their levels I would love to see them

We can just use megaupload in the meantime.

Until then, may I suggest just posting a link to a preview photo, along with the map itself?

There is another way to add the levels into the game. You can simply edit the index.xml file and add the custom level at the beginning of the file (after the Chapter tag). Such as:

<Chapter title="Mother Nature">
<Map title="Jump the Shark" file="JumpTheShark.xml" diamonds="3" />
<Map title="Outside Orphanage" file="OutsideOrphanage.xml" diamonds="1" />
...

And so forth. Then you can select it as normal. It won't replace any of the levels, but as the chapter is limited to only 20 levels, the last level in the list won't be playable (in this case, Mother Nature).

To temporarily disable the added level, you can "remark" it out, thus:

<!--Map title="Jump the Shark" file="JumpTheShark.xml" diamonds="3" /-->

And then the orignal 20 levels will be playable.

Fun level by the way =)

I'm adding a "usermaps" option to the main menu at the moment.
On topic, I suggest people stick to 800x600 images at most, to be kind to those with small screens or low bandwidth.

I'm almost done with the first map of my planned two-map "series", but I'm having a lot of trouble coming up with a decent ending for it. Everything I draw for it on paper either looks really boring/lame or overly complicated and confusing. I'm tempted to just slap something together to be done with it, but I've put quite a bit of work into it up until this point and I'd hate to take the cheap way out.

When I was making levels I always ended them with one final push, a challenge. Go look at Forest Falls, Forest Cave, Crystal Climb etc. And then they have a small slab of piece at the end, so you can feel the relief of Angel doing his little dance in front of the pole.

Ooh, you designed Forest Cave? The level I'm working on is a slight tribute to Forest Cave and Watch Your Step.

I think I had been trying too hard to come up with a decent ending, so I decided to take a break and play some Super Mario Bros 3. After finishing World 1, I sat down, started drawing again, came up with something that I really liked, and started building out the rough outline of it. Hopefully I can get it finished tonight, then I can spend the rest of my time testing and tweaking it until the new patch comes out.

I think I'm taking this too seriously. :P

bannacake outskirts is bloody hard hah

I can't download bananacake challenge1.xml is anyone else having problems?

I might put the best custom levels of the Steam version in the wiiware one also as part of a challenge mode. Because it seems that people are very creative.
