Question Limited Edition?

I've been doing some looking around, and it seems there was a limited edition of MOTS?

Apparently, there's something called "The missing Levels" with three other levels. Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks.

After some searching, I can't come up with anything hinting at extra levels. I can even remember when the game first came out, there wasn't an LE. I see an entry for a limited edition with 3 bonus levels on Amazon.com but that hardly looks credible. There was only one for sale. If it actually existed, it would be all over the place as a "collector's item."

There was a Demo version included with the X Wing collectors box, it had *only* three levels. Is this perhaps the source of confusion?

Post Secret level - Bespin

There was something on the original MOTS CD that you could unzip and then download a file from lucasarts.com to let you play a level of when Luke goes to Bespin (from the film the empire strikes back)... However Lucasarts have kindly withdrawn this file....
For those of you still interested in playing it I found a site where you can download the whole level in one zip file simply. Just follow this link http://www.jediknight.net/editing/levels.html and the file is under "bespin special edition v.2"
(File link is http://www.jediknight.net/editing/files/bespin-sev2.zip)
There's a link here for anyone who wants to do it the old school way too http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/nsdlsf/hiddenlevel.htm

For anyone who is skeptical see here for a video of it in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEI3Xs3XnTI

I never knew of any other secret levels, but there are shed loads of single player campaigns that were made by people who contributed to sites like http://www.massassi.net/ , http://www.jediknight.net and any other fan webrings. So it may be worth a look on there for anything you like!

Happy Vader hunting!

jimi-harr is correct, there was some data on the disc for a level that wasn't included in the game, much like the hot coffee stuff in GTA. Lucasarts released a patch which allowed you to unlock this rather plain and boring mission. You're not missing much though.

That boring secret level has been tweaked to include Darth Vader in it and a tougher Boba Fett in the previous link to the "SE" version. http://jediknight.net/editing/files/bespin-sev2.zip It's worth checking out just for nostalgia purposes, but really isn't all that great.

As for that Limited Edition MotS, I'm fairly certain it is just referring to the demo. Back in the day, demos were released as "Limited Edition" and feature 1-3 levels from the actual game. I seemed to remember playing MotS Limited Edition off of a PC Gamer disc.

Yep, the Special Limited Edition contains the first 3 levels of MotS and I think I got mine with my copy of Jedi Knight? I can't really remember (it was 11-12 years ago).

The disc is yellow instead of full color like the full MotS disc.

Yeah, I can vouch for everyone in here.
The "Limited" in "Limited Edition" meant something different back then. It didn't mean that it was a special edition with extra content that was only made in limited quantities, it meant it was a version of the game that was limited in length.

I was just playing the secret level today. If you buy it through steam, you end up fighting Dark Mara and Dark Kyle instead of Vader. Boba Fett's still in there, though. I think that's just something having to do with the steam version. I'm pretty sure that if you get one of the .zip files listed above it may use the Vader skin on the people you fight in the carbonite chamber and the end of the level.

Oh, and the whole level from the carbonite chamber onwards is included as a multiplayer map! You can duel your friends in LAN play, with one of you skinned as vader, another as luke, and up to 6 others as various other characters
