There's a video on YouTube where someone stacks cameras by the ledge and then hops on them to get up. I was almost able to do it that way, but after 5 or 6 tries, I gave up.

I just watched one where the guy did mostly backhopping the whole way. I don't know why that would be considered a trick. It looks like he did it to save time not turning around. He put the companion cube by the ledge, put a camera on it, hopped off the camera to get higher, then quickly grabbed the cube. I don't think my reflexes are quick enough for that.

I think the platforms simply take to long to raise up, so it's just not possible to do it in less time. Then again, I think I did that run in 1:27, the lowest Gold possible.

Haven't read the entire thread or watched all the vidoes. I am curious what is the record run through levels 1-19 without using portal bumbing and\or any other bugs that allow an individual to skip past entire levels.

I've been working on that for a while.

would have most likely gotton it, too if my pc wasn't a piece of crap that is laggy even on all lowest settings.

I'm 22 and I've been playing FPS's for over 12 years. I'm also a Software Quality Assurance Analyst (Software tester) for a company. I assure you that it isn't easy to figure stuff out like that.

OK.... I hate it when a 22 year old kid figures things like this out, just just makes me look bad.

Back in my day I kicked ♥♥♥ on Space Invaders, Missile Command, Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, and many others. A true master could put in a quarter and play forever. I wasn't quite that good, but pretty close. A night of video gaming might cost me $2-$3 in quarters. Sadly, I am past my prime and don't have the reflexes as I once did.

I am still amazed at what incredible games could be created in 16K of ram.
