Radeon 5850 Reviews

Since there's already a thread on the 5870 I thought I'd start a new one for the 5850.

[H]ardOCP: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/...eo_card_review

Anandtech: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3649&p=1

Guru3D: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...iew-crossfire/

More coming up soon...

This is the real value card, for $260 it's about 30% cheaper than the 5870 but only about %10 slower. Plus it absolutely beats the GTX285 (in the [H] review anyway), and it's quite a lot more frugal too at load (http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/..._card_review/7). Crossfire scaling is decent, even with brand new drivers and it will only get better as the months go by.

The only downside is that it overclocks poorly, but the card tested was an engineering sample anyway. ([H] used Overdrive, but Guru3D got much better results using their own Rivatuner)

The card is currently non-existent on Newegg, but several UK retailers have stated availibity in one or two weeks.

Luke

Edit: Newegg availability: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...n=5850&x=0&y=0
