yea but the games not meant to be realistic, so weapon calibers have nothing to do with damage values, and it should stay that wa to make it balanced. (lol assult balanced)

MP40 was known for it's accuracy and slow rate of fire, what combines for a good SMG that is even cable of killing people from a distance.
By the way, MP40 uses 9mm and Thompson .40 This is why they should have different damages & recoils
The Thompson used .45 ACP.

indeed the colt .45 fires the .40 caliber.

also the difference in degree between one pistol round and another is not so great when you see what they do to a human body. its what they hit that matters.

The Colt 1911 used .45 ACP as well.
