All this rant about Bill's hat reminds me of the episode of The Simpsons where the highly collectable Malibu Stacy doll got a new hat and everyone had to buy the new doll to get the hat. So many Smithers' out there

I don't play TF2 at all although I have it but I have preordered L4D2 so anyone who wants can get my Bill's hat so I can watch you fight over it

It's really an age-old thing of wanting something you can't have/feeling like you have to buy what you think is a bad product just to get something else. It's kind of sad really.

Of course with most Simpson's did it first references you can actually go back to the Flintstones. Not in this case though - I don't think people got as freaky en masse in the 60's, I mean there were some fads to be sure, but nothing like Tickle Me Elmo.

Think about it - the hat collectors are pretty much just like the idiots that wanted that stupid Tickle Me Elmo doll.
