Cost: Could be very high due to chip size and complexity. Launch: Well into Q1 2010 based on several sources with insider info. Performance: Gaming wise who knows until it's out and all Nvidia is talking about is non gaming applications so far. This leaves ATI tons of room to not only launch Hemlock (5870 x 2)but close to the next generation based on almost 1/2 a year since the 5870 launch. In my opinion Fermi will have to be under $500.00 and have Hemlock beat at that price to be a success. |

That conspiracy theory would also explain the lackluster 5770 release. At it's current price point, it's not strong enough. The magic driver trick could suddenly change that. |

Let me see if I understand?
Price means nothing? Interesting but unrealistic for real world sales volumes and shareholders of NVDA. |

but then again, there is environmentalists standing front of the 5 second machine because it spews so much pollution.' -Rep for the pollution caused by the drag racer Its like saying Drag Racer>Prius Hybrid. Sure, sure the racer is faster but it uses gas so fast (10MPG) it won't make it further than the Prius (35MPG). There is some people that just wants to go to point A to point B, but some people wants to be as speedy as possible. Advantages/Disadvantages, everything has them. |

Nvidia partners feeling the Fermi pinch
Fudzilla is reporting that Nvidia partners are feeling the $ pinch due to Fermi taking so long. Link
I bet these partners hope the rumors of late Q1 2010 are wrong and it comes out December. |

Yeah, but then again I don't feel sorry for them (nvidia's partners). Their partners just sit back and punch their logo on the nvidia card they produce and sell it for a 5-35% mark up. They do very little work and get a nice profit out of it. Nvidia & AMD are a cash cow if you think about it. All you have to do is pay nvidia/AMD a licensing fee and continue to do business. Once you have sold enough products to cover the license from nvidia its just profit after that. Theirs a lot reason AMD's partners haven't left them because their just more profitable. Lets say I have a billion dollars, I can outsource labor in china or another country (which all of them do). I'll call it (my company) "Company D Eastside" And then import it to the USA calling it "Company D Westside" I would pay less taxes etc for importing because its within the same company. Then once the product is in the US. I setup my supply of retailers and sell my product. I'd probably use USPS because their a non-profit organization and in the end I would save money shipping with them. So once I have my supply chain established, the cargo would arrive on ships from china and then go to a warehouse in California. Then I would mail them off. Within 3-5 months I would have the fee paid off and I would make a profit. Now I know theirs some BFG supporters (or products made in the us), But trust me those parts are made in china (or insert country here ____) and assembled in the US. Just have to have US branding as a promotional reason on why you should buy their cards. So, once again I've either expanded your horizons or I've hurt your IQ because you read my giant unforgiving paragraphs. |
