TF2 hat for L4D2 preorder

If i ordered the game from gamestop, how do i claim my new hat? would i need to wait until the game comes out?

if you preorder it from gamestop or w/e retail store has it, you should get some preorder activation code that you plug into steam and it'll register the game for you, and once the game is registered to your steam account, it should trigger the item for your tf2 game or w/e...

i could be wrong, that's just my assumptions...

thanks, i saw the update and there wasnt any explaination on if you purchased it at gamestop or other stores.

things to know about valve games

1. don't play them on console
2. always buy them from steam (or at least check steam in case of deals, as they are often and great)
3. game stop / EB, are crooks. don't EVER go there.

LOL i preordered the game just for the tf2 hat, the early demo and bat means nothing to me. not even saving $5. oh and the hate looks pretty cool. why would you order it off gamestop though if you're going to need steam anyway?

i dont feel game stop are crooks. i did buy it for PC...but i normally do buy it from steam, but i was in the store and was like, what the hell. the money all goes to the same place.

i dont know, i was in the store and the guy was cool, so i bought it there. i do like to go and buy things with a sense of non antisocial issue.

If you pre-ordered on Steam you also get the bat, Chet made that pretty clear.

As mentioned above, after entering the activation code, Steam should pick up on the fact you have the game and you should get it. I did notice when I got mine that I was wearing it to check it out on a few of the classes and about an hour later in a different server it said "Blackops found: Bill's hat". So it was a little delayed although I had already worn the hat.
