can't wait for this. anybody thinking novemeber 19th (hl1 anniversy) for release.

Would have been my guess a month or so ago, but it is a little too close. Suppose it is a mod though.

Do you think they would release so close to the release date of L4D2? Valves been pretty good to the BM team so might it not be seen as a little disrespectful by the team to Valve to release so close to L4D2? I could see the end of the month maybe. I mean I don't care I'm not getting L4D2 right off the bat anyway so I'd be more than happy to be able to play BM on the 19th if we don't crash the servers.

I don't think that Valve would care tbh. L4D2 is going to be their best selling game to date and Black Mesa can't do much to stop that. Also, crashing the servers won't be a problem, since the mod will be released as a torrent as well.

Torrents will be available after release day.

I don't know tbh, I vaguely remember them talking about torrents, but I'm not sure if they'll upload it themselves or just leave it in the hands of the public.

they could always use rapidshare or filefront, that is what a lot of mods do.

it will be pretty big though, being a whole new game.

they might have featured mod tie in with steam. achievements and all. not sure though

I'd rather Valve give it the nod and be able to download it off Steam. I don't really trust torrents or for that matter even understand them really.

They need steamworks for that. I bet that's what they're doing though.

Of course, I meant besides that.

Definitely, I hope. Achievements have been talked about on their forums, but they haven't officially confirmed if they're using Steamworks yet.

I think it's inevitable. Either way, they'll be loads of places to download it from. I understand torrents, but I'd rather download the necessary files from a mirror site.

Not necessarily. There are quite a few mods being hosted on Steam that aren't using Steamworks, at least not according to the details on their store pages.
