I would like to say thank you to everyone that seriosuly commented on my thread to the issues about the game I raised. You have given me much food for thought and for that I thank you. The thread got closed because of trolls, according to the moderator it became 'a trollfest'.

Hope this doesn't count as a thread necro -
I'm from http://www.ubercharged.net/, where we've been running a serial competitive TF2 guide (was featured on the TFBlog recently). I was going to make a new thread about it, but decided it may be more relevant in this thread. Would be great if it got some more airtime. Thanks for your time ![]() |

low/mid/high is the skill level, if you're new you probably want low.
Server on means they have a server, server off means they don't. |

If you try and don't succeed, cheat. Repeat until caught. Then lie.

How does one go about rating a post as "Worthy of Chuck Norris"?

So, I'm looking to get into playing competitive TF2 but I'm the type of person that likes to know what he's getting in to before he gets into it. So, I just read the sticky thread "A Beginner's Guide to Competitive TF2." You know, the one that's been there for ages.
Anyways, while reading through said thread, I came across a few things and have no idea what they are. First off, what is an IRC client and what does it do? From what I understand it is used to find game servers to play competitively, but I wanted to make sure. Also, at some point Waar (author) said something about the "basic 6man class format" being comprised of 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, 1 demo, and 1 medic. I was wondering if you should basically always be playing with that set up and only changing it up when you have to or if you have a little room to change and still be effective. Any tips anyone could throw in would be useful, too! |

The basic 6man format is 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, a demo and a medic. You really should start with that format and branch out as needed when you pick up more experience. The other classes only have situational effectiveness, such as the Heavy being too slow on push maps, but can be effective on gravelpit. |

You can also check out my pretty much dead thread of pug groups: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=978837. If you join a few of those you should be able to find some games easily.
