Spam is the dominant strategy in large games of TF2. Unless you want to significantly redesign it or start playing 5v5, there's not much you can do about it. Even if you did nerf the Demo so hard that he couldn't spam effectively, people would just start using Soldier to the same effect.

If he's able to hit you with it, that's because you aren't moving enough. The blast radius on the stickies isn't really all that wide; most demomen will wait until they can hear the Engineer working on a gun, dispenser or teleporter for that reason. before firing for that reason.

If the Demoman gets caught off guard while doing his job then he's made a mistake.
Examples? Does that engineer think he's clever? Two stickies on your flank and spam grenades at his sentry (extremely effective in almost every demoman vs engineer situation). Engineer tries to come out and shotgun you? Giblitized, and the sentry is now free to be taken out at leisure. Are there unknown enemies around? Stickybomb your flanks while travelling and learn to aim your grenades. The Demoman is so effective at area denial that he has the potential to never be caught vulnerable, even while single-handedly tackling objectives. He has no hard counters and no soft counters. Demo gets a lot of flak because he's so easy to use effectively. A bit like the Pyro or the Scout with the Force or Sandman. The only difference between a Pyro and a Demoman is that a Pyro can effortlessly play 'well', while a Demoman can effortlessly dominate average players.

... Any demoman that is SO effective at and cant be caught Vulnerable obviously are pent up in some room no one goes in full of stickys. Much like Rifle snipers in 2Fort They are cowards and contribute almost nothing to the team. so you ignore them

Don't forget cases, when a good demoman finds a medic with a critical uber - stickies are deadly to all then.

No class in the game is OP if you're smart enough to exploit it's weakness(es). A good counter class for the Soldier and Demo is the Scout. He can side strafe and escape the Soldier's rockets and hes the best class to flank a Demos sticky trap.

I enjoy the enthusam but in reality demomen ARE (O)ver (P)owered They are more powerful then the majority of classes and have less weaknesses then most of the classes. Im trying to focus on is the fact that Soldiers are Much worse then Demomen any day of the week.
There are 4 OP classes and 4 UP classes. and one that has to be statisticly perfect. |

Except if you actually read my post you'd realize I was stating that a Demoman, unless sticky jumping, can protect himself with an extremely effective mobile self defense strategy.

Demoman is a little bit unfari seen as the two to three sticky's can kill most classes so lots of people use that gun has there main where as soldiers and heavys need to take time to kill and in that time they can fire those stickys, very hard to combat it.
Also if there are multiple demomans on a team, all they do is spam grenades down a walkway making it impossible for medics, snipers, scouts and engineers to get by. The demoman is overpowered and needs a nerf. |
