The Horrible Shocking Truth

I have discovered something UTTERLY EVIL.
Build any room, except the hanger, haven't tried it with a hanger yet.
You see the "reflective" floor right? No you don't because it's all a lie. All of it.

If you have an object you can see it's reflection, but what you are seeing is not it's actual reflection, you are seeing a duplicate object through the transparent floor!(hypothesis).

If you place and/or move a Pop up trap you can see a larger portion of the trap underground than above ground. This proves the ground is transparent.(proof)

Now that you have the trap in place if you look closely you can still see the box down there, it is the same color as it's surroundings but it's there. Now position a minion on the trap. You can see him on top but underneath witness his double being engulfed by the pop-up trap! If it were a reflection not a transparent floor, this wouldn't happen at all! This proves the floor is not reflective.(proof)

TL;DR
ALL OF THE FLOORS ARE TRANSPARENT AND EVERYTHING* YOU CREATE IN YOUR BASE HAS A DUPLICATE UNDER THE FLOOR! THE FLOOR IS NOT REFLECTIVE, IT'S TRANSPARENT.(conclusion)

* with a few exceptions such as the pop up trap is not a complete mirror image.

This is positively evil in every way!

Quite evil, yes.

But it's obvious why they made it like this. Perfectly sharp reflections take a giant wad of power to produce. More than it takes to just make duplicates? I DO NOT KNOW.

But if you wanted, you could probably boost your FPS by 25-50% just by turning off these EVIL FALSE REFLECTIONS by drawing almost half as many objects on-screen.

Personally I keep my floor reflections off because I've never personally seen a tiled floor so shiny that it looks like a mirror, so it's slightly distracting.

BREAKING NEWS!!! MORE PROOF THAT THIS IS TRUE.

I have just been informed of the following.
1. Switch to yellow or red alert
2. Have a guard (haven't tried for mercenary/marksman) pick up a gun
3. Wait for him to pass out (not die)
4. Observe how his gun clips through the floor, but more importantly, how his duplicate's gun clips though the floor!

This seems like a horrible mismanagement of budget. I mean, if I've been buying TWO of everything, just so I can put one beneath my floors, I figure I could have just bought one and saved half my money.

I'm going to have to fire my accountant. Where are my matches?

You call that evil?
I just found out that you don't actually build the base at all!
It's just an image coming from your monitor which is projected onto your retina!
And all those "minions" that Maxis promised we would be able to recruit? Just a bunch of numbers, zeros and ones!

yeah more important is the fact that there is another evil genius in my base below my floor trying to dupe me into thinking I'm seeing reflections.

Perhaps he's the one that tells my workers to stand on existing objects about to be placed while they drop there current object to be placed, only to be told to move by another worker who is trying to place the object he's standing on from the object that is originally being placed there by standing around arguing on who's going to move next while standing on more objects that are trying to be placed!?

another question is why isn't this mirror making evil genius on the pay roll to organize the super agents?

but how do the agents come through the holes, is this some sort of gateway that we have not been told about... some gateway to horrible c4 explosions in my/our/reflections power plant. Or perhaps some other Nice Genious Dimension !

eek

It's kind of obvious that it isn't shader-based reflections.

Just to let you know.. that's how DN3D had the mirrors work if I remember correctly.. but that's been soo long I can easily be wrong on that..
