Steam cloud problems - saved games
OK, so now I have played this game three times. My progress isn't saved - only achievments and experience, but I always have to restart at the first level after the three has met.
When I close down my Trine game, I see this error about steam cloud. Is there a way to not use the steam cloud since it is buggy as heck, or is there another option to not loose all your progress? Trine is no fun to play like this so I won't bother until I hear about something that makes this go away. I'm on Win7 6 bit. |

Sorry to hear. I'm not an expert on Steam Cloud so I'm not sure what could be causing this, other than some "random" Steam issues...
You can disable Steam Cloud by opening the console with the F8 key and writing "/steam_cloud_enabled 0" (without quotations but with the forward slash). After that the saves should be saved to \profiles\default\save The setting isn't saved so you need to do it every time you start the game. However, if Steam Cloud starts working at some point (and you could actually try this anyway), you can send the saves to Cloud by writing "saveToSteamCloud" in the console. There's also savegame files at http://trine-thegame.com/help/savegames/ if you wish to use them. I hope this helps. __________________ // Joel, Frozenbyte team, developers of Trine, Trine 2, Shadowgrounds & SG Survivor - Follow us on Twitter |

Well, it may, I just tried some other options from another thread regarding saves, but when I started the game (without the F8) option, no save in my game even though I had changed the save slot
![]() I don't think I will bother to try yet another frustrating time to get it to work. I will wait for a patch or something to take care of this. An option to disable the steam cloud permanently should be an option for either the game menu or as a launch option so you don't have to do it every time you start the game. Thank you for the quick answer! |

Well it can be made permanent actually, if you go to \config\options.txt and search for the Game section and change the line steam_cloud_enabled = 1 to 0, and save the file.
I'm hoping that the problem would solve itself soon enough but if not, then with the above info you should be able to play the game without Steam Cloud interfering. __________________ // Joel, Frozenbyte team, developers of Trine, Trine 2, Shadowgrounds & SG Survivor - Follow us on Twitter |
