Well I can't save it just as a .vdf it either has to be .rtf or .vdf.rtf
Tried it as .vdf.rtf and nothing changed. In that code you gave me though you only told me to put my username in those three different places, wouldn't I need to put my password in there too?

Well I think I have to go for a little bit, I asked my mom yesterday if we could clean the garage together today and I've been postponing that for almost an hour so I could get this solved, so I'll be back in a bit.

Is there any way we can get the attention of a Valve/Steam employee or something? Going through all this is almost making me want to uninstall Steam for good. Also, did you find anything on that F5? If you didn't it's alright, I could probably Google it and find the answer myself. Anyways, I'll be back in an hour or less, thanks for taking your time to try and help me

No idea, If you have already opened a ticket and they respond point them towards this thread to let them see what you have tried.

Still_Alive, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been looking all over the internet for someone with a similar problem and you are the only one so far. Well, you and my roommate haha.

I've followed the (excellent) advice of Ntt4 the entire way through with the same non-results as you.

For those keeping score at home: I've a 15" MBP, latest gen (black plastic keys), and my buddy has the same except the gen prior (silver keys). Both running up-to-date 10.6.

Ntt4, thanks for the help with this, you've been great so far.

Good to hear I'm not the only one. However, I just finally found what was causing the problem...I kept looking on the Steam website and looked at the list of programs that may cause Steam to have connection issues, I had one of the programs, it's called PeerGuardian and my friend told me I should install it when I use Vuze for torrents. I haven't used either in a couple months, and PeerGuardian wasn't one of the programs on the list that was bolded and had a * next to it but I thought why not give it a try, and it now works...I don't know why just having it installed on my computer caused this problem Oh man, now I hate PeerGuardian. For some reason I have never been able to access Wiki sites, besides Wikipedia. Any wiki site like Call of Duty Wiki or Bully Wiki or Chrono Trigger Wiki, ANY Wiki besides Wikipedia wouldn't work on my Mac, but it would on other computers in the house...now that I uninstalled PeerGuardian they work...wow haha I recommend that anyone reading this uninstalls PeerGuardian if they have it on their computer. I didn't even have to have PeerGuardian running on my computer for it to cause these problems, just it being installed caused this mess of frustration.

So thanks so much NTT4 and that other guy dirk0 for trying to help. CallMeStretch if you have PeerGuardian installed uninstall it, if you don't have it installed check this list and try uninstalling any programs you might have installed on your Mac that are on this list: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...9828-SFLZ-9289

Lol, I never thought of asking if anyone had been using Peerguardian. I thought it was dead for 10.6 and still rough for 10.5.

That makes sense though, as Valves IP's must of been being blocked by either a p2p or a game list.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out though.

Edit - I'm also adding this to the FAQ to help some peeps that read it.

Callmestretch, If you are still having the same problem, please continue posting in this thread, an I'll check some things over with you.

DUH PeerGuardian was definitely the problem. Just a simple uninstall did the trick :-)

Currently downloading Portal, I plan to reinstall PG 10.6 and see how well it plays with Steam once Portal is downloaded. I'll post the results here.

FWIW, this is the first time PG has given me problems. I haven't had any of the issues Still_Alive mentioned.

Peerguardian can be a royal pain in the A***. (That's the british spelling, not the American way :cool))

It seems that Valves IP's have made it onto one of the block lists. Try disabling and re-enabling the lists one by one to see which one blocks Valse IP's.
