Source SDK

When can we expect SDK tools to be available? Granted Steam was just released, but I'm anxious.

Probably not long after they have released most of the games. I think porting the tools is s slightly different challenge than porting the games. Makes more sense to have the games working well before some of the devs concentrate on the tools.

speaking of source sdk...half life 2 has it included. ok i understand that comercial companies have to buy the source engine, but what of the indies that want to make a wee bit of money do they have to buy the same thing or is their a special indie license type deal?

Anxiously waiting for the SDK! Make it happen, Valve.

We are working on a code update so you can compile your mods for OSX.

Its illegal to make money from Source SDK... every thing you make has to be free

Alfred did answer your question: They're working on making it so you can compile for OS X with the SDK.

but you will have to compile it on a Mac with XCode installed though. Unless there is some cross-compilation stuff for windows. you would need a Mac anyways to actually test how your mod/game runs on the Mac and fix issues with the Mac version (that will inevitably pop up).

My guess is that he means exactly what he says. They probably aren't bringing the tools over to mac, just giving the tools the ability to build mac addons. In which case you would need a mac to test it, but probably wouldn't need xcode (aren't all the addons lua anyway?).

They might not be bringing all the tools to make mods over to the Mac, but you still need to build libraries and the applications, I'm pretty sure.
