I picked it up with low expectations a while back, ended up being a very pleasant surprise. The pseudo-sequel "Elven Legacy" (also available on steam) is also quite good.

As far as going for the medals, on most missions you can achieve gold without sacrificing things like extra town exploration and such but it's not easy and sometimes requires luck >.>

i havent played it much. The turn limit took me by surprise on the second level and failed me, and my first time on the first level, i accidentally parked everyone in the river. Their archers had a field day. Restarted campaign just because i had lost too many soldiers, but anyway.

I love it.

Great game.
I also got Elven Legacy, going to see if its good once i beat Fantasy wars. I am a sucker for a good turn based strategy like Fire Emblem or Fantasy wars or Advance wars
