Horrible Graphics and horrible slow

Playing Allies on Win 7 64 bit i noticed two things.
1) The graphics is horrible. Comparing them to screenshots my graphics look like 20 year old game.

2) its horrible, horrible, horrible slow. I can watch the shells flying with ease....

I remember myself playing this 3 or 4 years ago. I know it was faster then on a much older PC. In addition i cant check the "multithreading" option.
Any solutions or someone who noticed the same?

1) maximize or atleast tone up the graphics according to the capabilities of your machine

2) you can set the speed with the "[" and "]" keys
