How can I save a game?

I played til the first black portal. When I abort the game there is still the option to choose a level or a used game slot.
When I restart Steam/Nyx all savegames are gone.

Anyone has a clue?

I dunno. it always saved for me. When i wanted to quit, i waited till i entered the next stage.

Mine didn't save the first time I played. But since then I haven't had any problems with my save games.

You did go through the portal I assume. There wouldn't be anything to save if you didn't.
