Ammo type when equpiping weapon

Hey there, this thread is regarding FONV (I can't go back and edit the title to reflect that, sorry).

I have just started the game and am using the Varmint Rifle with hand loaded .556 AP ammo. I'm looting every round I find though, so I frequently have .556 regular ammo in my inventory (which I don't want to use).

Every time I equip a new weapon and then re-equip the Varmint Rifle, it comes up using regular ammo. The same thing happens with my 9MM with +P ammo.

So - any way to set my gun to one ammo type and have it use that on equip, regardless of what other ammo is in my inventory?
