I have 90 hours logged in Warband and 85 hours in the original. The game is enormously fun, give it a chance. Just realize what it is. It's a little bit strategy, a little but first person combat, a little bit mass combat simulator.
When you and a hundred other knights on horseback are charging with lances down, arrows sticking out of your shield, and ploughing into a huge line of infantry, you'll understand. When you're climbing a siege ladder and watching bodies fall from the walls, hiding behind your shield while the person in front of you takes an arrow to the head, you'll understand. When you're defending your own castle against an army that outnumbers you four to one, and it comes down to you and your companions and a handful of elite (and bloody) knights holding the walls to the last man while bodies and weapons litter the ground, you'll understand. The first hour or two of play is nothing, really. It gets so much better. |
