Support for wide resolutions. I play in fullscreen and I want a wide resoltution. I think this is the most important thing

Another addition to the game could be steam achievements

Indeed, full screen with 16:9 aspect ratio and steam achievements!!

i think the primary thing would be to allow for scrolling of the screen left/right and up/down so it would allow for the design of larger levels if desired. that to me is the biggest limitation.

also add pause functionality that doesn't restart the current level while you are at it
