Malware

I just got given GTIRacing by a friend for steam and when I tried to run it I got a message from AVG saying it contained malware.Now the game wont load at all.

Chances are it's a false positive. I used to get them more often from AVG especially with older games. I now use MS Serurity Essentials and still have 3 false positives I have to tell it to ignore. I have never gotten a virus from any game I downloaded from Steam.


Depending on how you have you AVG set up it probably put the game exe into quarantine or may have deleted it. So check and see what action was taken. If in quarantine allow it. If it's been deleted you will need to set it to allow and then verify the game cache so it redownloads the deleted file.
