Broken Mission
Im trying to complete the Arunmor mission ARCInfiltration, but the LAN im hacking doesnt have the links i need to get to the file server. I know that these LAN's are randomly generated, but as it stands, i cannot complete the mission.
Is there a way to regenerate the LAN - or am i going to have to abandon the mission? If i abandon the mission, am i going to be able to progress further thru the game? |

After some more forum trolling, i found the answer.
I came accross a dial-up number. Put that into IP Lookup (including the dash) and i got another gateway into the LAN ![]() **EDIT** Now i have a major issue. Ihave gotten thru the maze of the LAN - but the file server i need to download the files from is the only thing connected to the modem. This means that as soon as i hack in, the admin is alerted and i only have a few seconds before he kicks me from the network. I dont have time to break the voice print and the password - so i did them one at a time. That worked fine - and it gave me enough time to locate the files on the server - but not enough time to get the file copier running on the first file, let alone enough time to finish copying! Is there something i can do? I am using the top rank software, bypassing both the proxy and monitor. Last edited by Tlmitf: 07-02-2010 at 03:45 AM. |

Yea relay many connections before you connect to the LAN this will provide you more time...

Many connections gives you more time, though normal connections will be cracked in almost no time at all. having a password to a system provides more time, and having the admin password gives even more time than that.

Its not the active trace thats killing me - its the admin to the LAN kicking me when he tracks me.
You know when he logs on and the red dots start to chase you down? I dont have anything between the file server and the modem - the server is connected directly to the modem. Is there something i can do about this? I would just abandon the mission, but its a storyline mission

Eh, sometimes it's a real pain. I couldn't get through the ARC Lan either, should go check it out some time.
As to the admin trace, unfortunately the above "add moar connections" will not work, like you said =/ About all you can do is reset the connection when he logs on and hope that he spends long enough trying to find you, but I dunno how you'd time it. Bit of a sod of a situation really. Apart from that, keep the file copier up but running on idle before you log in, make sure you know the exact lay out and have your HDD tab open. Might have to do it a few times to get the files you need. |

This is really the worst possible situation. Lemme guess: Modem, directly connected to the target server?
The key here is to know that if you only break one of the two security mechanisms (voice ID and password), it will stay open if you reconnect. In your first time in, hack the password. Remember it and disconnect. Clean your trace in InterNIC. Now connect again, the password should still be unlocked, do the voice ID. Try to grab a file before the admin gets you. Clean InterNIC. Now, when you return, do the VoiceID and disconnect. Clean InterNIC. Connect again, type in the password and grab what you can. Clean InterNIC. Rinse repeat 'til you have what you need. This is by some margin the maybe worst LAN setup you can encounter. In a normal mission, simply abort it. The chance that you get caught is INSANELY high and if it wasn't the storyline mission it certainly isn't worth the risk. |

You're supposed to hide-and-seek your way around the LAN when the Admin logs on, he tends not to check a terminal he's already checked until he's checked everything else first. Clearly this is easier on bigger LANs, and interrupts your activities.
