You would probably have to use the EA Download Manager. I've had issues activating my Sims 3 key with Steam after I bought a bundle pack. Turns out I had to use EA's annoying manager to do so.

I understand that, I'm simply saying that people in the past have had issues getting the game to work on their Steam accounts. If you have a disk, I don't see why you can't just use the disk, or register it with EA's Download Manager. I believe Steam is only used for valid activation codes and not actually game keys.

Again, I don't believe the game itself can be registered so that it'll download from Steam's servers. You can add it as a non-Steam game, but I'm truly convinced from past experiences that you need an actual activation code and NOT a game key. The two are different. One is a redemption code and one is a standard key.

In that case, contact EA or try to activate it on EA Download Manager. I have I did it that way, and it worked flawlessly. You're able to download it as many times.
