Can I Run It?

So I went to the site, plugged in the game, ran it and got a negative. Said my graphics card wasn't quite up to snuff, and then listed what I needed. Said I needed 128MB of whatever it was and Pixel/Vertex Shader 2.0. I had 389MB of whatever, and version 4.0 of whatever the shaders were. I don't really understand why I can't run it, if that's true. I can run WoW just fine on lower settings.

I think I know the answer to this question based on your description of your GPU specs, but do you actually KNOW what GPU you have? Have you posted on the RIFT game tech forum yet?

Intel X3100 integrated. Complete , pretty much, but I'm not sure why it would say 389MB of whatever. It seems like it was enough.

Saying you can run WoW on lower settings isn't really a good sign. This game is a bit more demanding than WoW in respects to graphics and requirements.

What are the specs of your computer overall? Some people run it fine with lower cards, but the rest of their computer is pretty top notch, and the same for the other way around.

Could you start it up again and give the error number, or exact wording for the problem? It would make it a lot easier to understand the specifics.

This is a laptop, right? I'm pretty sure an integrated graphics chip, especially that one, will not cut it. I have a laptop with an Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M (which is not great at all) which I haven't even tried because I'm pretty sure it won't cut it.

Try Can You Run It.

I wouldn't go below class 3 on this list.

Here's a good thread from the Rift Game forum on specs.

It's the opposite of a good sign, as I was able to run WoW on lower settings on my G4 iBook six years ago... and while they did improve graphics, they didn't improve them *that* much.

Anyway: If it says "Intel" it won't run Rift (or most other current games). Laptops with mobile ATi or nVidia GPUs often seem to be able to run it. But even full blown desktop PCs have trouble on higher settings.
