Game wont load

I keep getting this error "please login to steam".what does this mean? thanks

Means that you have to log into your Steam account. Since this is you first Post here, I should ask if you have Steam installed? Even the retail version of this game requires Steam to play.

Indeed, you need to have a steam account with the serial key of your game activated, and be logged onto that account to play the game

it never ask me for my serial number. I installed it click on it to play and then it ask me to log in.

Try running Steam from an admin account or right click on the shortcut on your desktop and select "run as admin". Had a similar error once, that worked on Vista and Win 7.
But what is strange is that you did not have to enter a serial anywhere in the installation process.
