Graphics totally screwed!

Ok, so I haven't played for at least six months since I uninstalled it (which I did with several games because my uni work was suffering

), I reinstalled it today and the graphics are totally messed up! I have two copies of the graphics squashed onto my screen, and they're corrupted in a sort of checkboard pattern (I'd attach a screenshot but I can see a way of doing it on here).

Anyone got any ideas as to what's causing this?

System:
Windows XP
P4 3Ghz (Hyperthreaded)
1Gb Ram
Radeon X1650
