Horrible persistant tearing

Right from the start there is constant tearing through the middle of the screen (horizontally). Vsync on or off, makes no difference.

Don't know if its the same problem, but I had that with some games, when I had as well HDMI pluged in and the normal pc screen at the same time. dissconnected the HDMI and it did not happen again.
