L4D and the "I can do what you can't do" tantrums
Lately I've noticed some wayward group of l4d players who try to impose some gentleman's code on the other team but don't take this so seriously for their own team...
Mre specificly it's actions that are preceived to be "pro" or "competitive grade" that are thrown around the most but are used with people who barely have the skills to competently execute said actions themselves... Here's a small list Gay smoker, a smoker that smokes tha last one standing. OK, it just doesn't make sense to have an issue with that. Last year if you didn't do that you were called a noob. Some people in the other team might feel frustrated about that when they arn't with 4, but do you really think that the ones that will join the match later will have any concern with t hat ? They will do everything to win them a match. Isn't it really a bit daft to just "not want to win a match" just because of some issue you might have with what the team does ? It's like a soccer playing saying , oh the keeper ain't paying attention and his goal is free, let's not shoot that ball inside and force an offside... This is so contradictory to the goal of the game. I could understand that when you are learning the game with friends that you ask ppl to do it gentrly but in public we just grind :P T2 usage/spam/Spray: I can't believe how much you hear it these days. it's simple. Why do you go in a supermarket and start complaining that they have other things than bread and cake and they shouldn't offer that ? Then go to a bakery where they don't have anything else... Why do you go to a movie theatre and complain about people eating popcorn, watch a movie at home then. Then why is it that people join normal public servers and start complaining about the people using t2 weapons ? The worst hypocricy is when you're gonna use it yourself and fail badly at crowning the witch. What a rediculous sense of righteousness does such a player have to impose all of this to players in public matches that play on vanilla servers ? If they are friends with pro's they should have enough roto servers flying around in their groupserver listing, but I feel that it is mostly a general frustration to cover up the fact that will be owned on roto servers and then cover up that incompetence with l33t st0r13z 0f p0wn463 on vanila servers. There are very few people who complain and actually do it themself, which brings me to the next point Map 4 leavers.......because there's no t1. Besides the "i was just testing my network connection" I think this is one of the most terrible "ragequit coverups" known in the l4d community. If ragequitting screws up the game, then those terrible map 4 pro rages are even more terrible because they do it even when they are WINNING, but want to display some sort of status. NOt even in a competition would you rage in map 4.... so it's not even that pro. It's like baking a steak and baking it blue on purpose... They do all that pubstomping/starring up untill map 4 and then .... quit. KNOWING that there are going to be no t1 weapons if they join a public server. If they're so pro, there'll be a double pistol with unlimited ammo but is that may be too hot ? Don't skeet, don't Deadstopping, don't dodge.... I sometimes ask these players if the other team can still play with their monitor switched on, or next will we be going to taunt the other team to play l4d with their toes ? or will it be gay to pick up a medkit on a server that provides them ? NOOB TOTEM: This is clearly a troll attempt. The first time you start the game, the instructor tells you to "stay together to survive". Staying together to cover eachother is actually a big part of gameplay in left 4 dead(2). And then these kids go taunt "noob" on that. How much in denial can one actually be for this to be taken serious ? (except for a skeeter, they can go solo and get pounced by a hunter that spawns 2 feet behind them on the ground) Anyways, to conclude this and not let this be too much a wall of text, I'm also outspoken about some tactics but it has mostly to do with MY OWN team and not with what the other should or shouldn't do. L4D is heavy on teamplay, but that kind of taunts and frustration actually are humorous as hell because they don't make any sense at all and they are just there to troll or jarrate people of the aother team but have mostly no other purpose. It's not valid critique. That's what I think anyway :P So I just want to extend a moral boost to those players who feel intimidated by that. I myself am a bit above average but not really a pro, but I will never complain about all that stuff towards the other team because it just doesn't make any sense in public matches where most of the skill pallette isn't about skeeting or dead stopping but ground cover in general. If one stands out above his team members they should actually contribute to the team rather than nagging their head off about this weapon or not taking that item or gay smoking. If users can't use the weapon of their chose and what they are confortable with, hey are going to be even worse then the whiner's perception. |
