[HELP?] The Witcher 2 Launcher Application has stopped working

I just finished downloading after hours and now I get that error.

Anyone else having this problem? Not very happy considering there is no other way to open the game. Redownload 14GB? No thanks.

Same problem here. Launcher starts and nothing else happens. Help!@!!

Found the solution...
Disable all anti-virus then validate the install files from within Steam by right-clicking the Witcher 2 under your games list and selecting "properties" then there is a tab at the top, I think the middle one, which should have an option to "validate game files" or something like that. After validation it will find one file that will automatically re-download. Then restart the computer and it should run from the launcher now.

Did you try manually opening the witcher launcher exe, not the game itself, in the steam folder?

Yes, I fixed it now though, that wasn't the problem.

Hey! Quick question, how did you manage to fix it? I've tried pretty much everything and the same thing happens every time. I launch the game, the medallion pops up and then the game freezes just as it launches. I tried the run as admin and the antivirus thing, i used the performance checker and it said that the game should run so it's not that.

I would love to know also how you managed it. I've pretty much given up and written this off as a bad job. I've tried everything I've seen online and a few other things of my own to no avail, but if you figured out something new, please let us know.

Have the same problem as enlive. Tried all trick from the net. Still nothing. I even delete all my Microsoft visual c++ library and reinstall them again. I've turn off Norton, add steam to exceptions, did all the administration things, still nothing.
I have like exactly the same error as enlive, It's just make me happy that I'm not alone :/

yes great shame, and very f@~*ing annoying, OI!! ENLIVE, WHAT DID YO DO TO FIX IT, if you know then you could tell us what to do. i've got the same problems by the by.

Having the exact same problem. everytime i run it the launcher does nothing. i get no error messages, just nothing.

EDIT: Ok i just got mine working. what i did was press the "Verify the integrity of the game cache". it had to download something. once that was dont i "allow access" thing came up. I had to install something else. then it allowed me to play.
