Epic released Gears of War in November 2007. They decided to use LIVE! services. Just like the console version. The Games for Windows LIVE! was barely starting, many players have faith in it, but the system was barely a fiasco.
So then back in January 2009 they decided to integrate STEAMworks into Unreal Tournament IIII. The Community was very happy and even the game was hugh improved due to the new update. What now?! In February 2011 Bulletstorm is going to be released and GFWL are back again. While VALVe have been improved STEAM a lot in just one year, Microsoft have the same crappy system that had in 2007. Why EPIC is using GFWL? What do you think about it? |

This is AWESOME news, a reason to actually buy the PC version of the game (Although the Epic Edition is quite tempting, might get both).

G4WL isn't as bad as it was but it's still not good.
Gears on PC lol. It took multiple patches for it to run stable and while it was a great game yeah MS paid for near everything so the studio could make it such. Gears 1 MP was full of bugs and it still hasn't been patched to this day. Gears 2 was pretty god awful. The campaign was alright but so action oriented. The thing I loved about the first was the atmosphere. It just wasn't there in the sequel and I don't expect it to be in the third either. Epic is a good company and I wouldn't base their latest game Bulletstorm on them anyhow People Can Fly developed it and it was probably their idea to incorporate G4WL into it. Unreal 3 may have been garbage but I think the studio still has potential. Cliff has become a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lately, especially concerning PC gamers. Which is a shame because without us he'd be in the ditch. Last edited by dementedlullaby: 05-18-2011 at 07:10 AM. |

Why doesn't Nintendo develop for the PS3?

How does that make sense? Epic used to make most of their money on the PC with Unreal series. Anyway I guess we just have to accept that they are in MS pocket now. After all in terms of good exclusives Halo an Gears is like literally all the 360 has. Well that an Fable. Guess MS is paying to keep them under control an on GFWL. |

I don't think you understood the context.
Rasoft was asking why Gear of War is not ported to Linux. I responded by asking why Nintendo doesn't port games over to the PS3. It is perfectly reasonable, as Microsoft is the publisher for Gears of War. As for Epic being in Microsoft's pocket, who cares? Obviously their business partnership is working out great for the both of them, and, as shown with Bulletstorm, Epic will still put games on other platforms like the PS3 and PC. |
