Question about L4D Split Screen mod!

I have question about Left 4 Dead Split Screen mod!

Can I play left 4 dead on pc in split screen without using xbox 360, and without using xbox 360 conroler?

from what i have found on google. split screen is only possible with a controller/gamepad/whatever you want to call it if the controller is set to input two and 360controller.cfg is edited with console controls. it may be possible with some other third party software to use another keyboard and mouse as a virtual controller, "tricking" your computer so that it "thinks" that there are two controllers. i could google it but that would take more time. so without using a ♥♥♥♥load of software, almost certainly no
