I cant get past the CD key screen help!

So steam gives me the CD key and i type it exactly how it says but it wont let me through when i press the green check. So i reinstalled it but it still does not work please help.

What worked for me is
1. close steam completely
2. go to programs => steam => Supreme Ruler 2020 Gold
3. It should start up
