Chemistry Pot Stuck in Laboratory

I was trying to figure out how to mix chemicals in the laboratory (I've just started the game) and the chemistry pot is now stuck in place under the apparatus. It seems to be where it needs to be, as it is under the piece of it that chemicals would drip into, but I wanted to be sure before I got too much farther. No spoilers, please! I just want to confirm if I've gotten myself stuck or not.
