Heroes 5 is a downgrade to Heroes 3 WoG in every aspect. Maybe not in graphics but that is also debatable.
Heroes 3 Wog has 187 creatures, 9 types of factions/towns, 160 artifacts, 155 heroes. Each and every creature has his own 10 experience levels and buffs/skills associated with those levels, plus a commander per hero with his own set of skills.
There has yet to be a heroes game that has this kind of depth.
