Didn't see a review thread and since I haven't seen much coverage on it, figured this would be useful:
IGN gave it a 6.5: http://pc.ign.com/articles/113/1138508p1.html While PwnEm liked it a bit more and gave it a 7/10: http://www.pwnem.com/t-clones-review MashThoseButtons gave it a 4.3/5: http://mashthosebuttons.com/review/clones-review/ GamesAbout apparently really liked it as well and gave it a 9/10: http://gamesabout.net/reviews/clones/ |

Good idea! That IGN review totally failed to cover the multiplayer aspect of the game, which is a major draw for some of the other reviews and indeed what i consider the best part of the game.
The issue that comes up the most seems to be related to giving morphs to the clones, but if you make use of morph queuing, hotkeys, and freezing time then any problems are minimized. "While the single player content will last you a while, what sets Clones apart is the robust multiplayer action" Out Of Eight - 7/8 - NEW! http://www.outofeight.info/2010/12/clones-review.html "[after playing the demo] i was in no doubt that I had to buy the game!" Emeraldraptor - 8/8 (translated from Norwegian) http://translate.google.com/translat...010/11/clones/ "It's a big strong point of the game to play multiplayer" Tendance Geek - 8/10 (translated from French) - NEW! http://translate.google.com/translat...26-test-clones "...in addition to the single player mode is also a large section multiplayer locally or over the Internet with the world ranking and powerful level editor." Idealsoft (translated from Italian) http://www.google.com/translate?u=ht...langpair=it|en "An easy-to-use level editor and full replay recording system round off what is a mighty fine package." Indiegames http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2010/...s_tomkorp.html "I'm keeping my eye on Clones because it's so damn fun to play" Destructoid http://www.destructoid.com/preview-clones-126300.phtml Last edited by okmot: 12-10-2010 at 02:56 PM. |

I think the level design is AWESOME, so many funny comments and little things among the levels, I was playing "The Smoker" level and it was a pretty awesome level, haven't beat it yet though.
Some other funny moment, they big skeleton that was taking a bath, and the clones surrounded by like 100 worms in a little cave area, or the oooo sparkly moment when the clones are walking through the crystal cave made me laugh. |

[QUOTE=PEGamer;19310725]Didn't see a review thread and since I haven't seen much coverage on it, figured this would be useful:
IGN gave it a 6.5: http://pc.ign.com/articles/113/1138508p1.html Are these guys out of their mind? This game takes Lemmings and brings in out on a whole new level on every possible aspect! Controls? You got the belt, the hotkey, the buttons, Freeze Time and even Quantum time (That mode is so useful) Every Theme has new things to solve (Unthaw the clones with the mounted blaster for example) Music? Hell I'm humming the songs while im not even playing the game sometimes. Replayability? Multiplayer is awesome even though there aren't really a lot of people playing it and singleplayer has insanely hard puzzles at some point. Enough to keep the biggest puzzle fans busy for weeks or even months. |

"I was not expecting the pure packaged joy that Clones would deliver."
"Clones is simply the natural evolution of the Lemmings genre, bringing a vast array of meticulously designed levels, a detailed level design tool and online community features which happily rival Media Molecule’s Little Big Planet. Critical Gamer rates Clones 8/10
http://www.criticalgamer.co.uk/2011/07/13/clones-review "All of these game modes give this game an incredibly ambitious scope that tries to push what you can do with the Lemmings recipe to its very limits. There’s even a selection of levels that give you direct control over one clone with the usual array of abilities, except you can tell him to jump and move with the arrow keys. Such diversity within the confines of the original formula provides a fantastic sense of pace amongst the puzzles. As soon as you begin to feel wary of the usual click and grind of the standard levels, a new mechanic or game mode will appear out of nowhere." |
