Many of these issues where solved by updating the users directx files and ensuring that Windows is up to date. Links below. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) here DirectX 9.0c here. Vista/Windows 7 may not ship with some of the necessary 9.0c files.
