Graphics bugs/lag?

Ok so I just bought the Gold edition thing for more missions and what not.
So i start it up and it lags like crazy, the DEMOLITION COMPANY logo oon the top of the menu takes half an hour to slide out from the sides, and whatever settings i change in the options it doesnt work. And sometimes when i start it up the text on the menu wont even show up..
I really wanna play it but, anyone got a solution that might help? :/
I tried rebooting steam and my PC and neither works..
