Game crashes when starting

When I try to run the game, I get this error dialog:

Buffer overrun detected!

Program ...s\common\harvest massive encounter\Harvest.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

More specifically, after the splash screen and shortly after the loading screen appears. I tried restarting Steam, just in case.
I've been having an abnormal amount of fun with this game, so this is rather disappointing. I have not modified any of the files or tried installing mods.

If anyone else is having this problem, I found a thread on the main boards about the issue. Doesn't seem to offer a real solution.

Yep. Me too. Worked 2x and now I get the buffer over-run error as well.

Update: Check the forum link in the post above (way above). Seems most likely that having a vertical resolution > 900 is what's borking things.

Edit the harvest.cfg file in the Harvest Massive Encounter directory and change the resolutionh and resolutionv to something like 800 and 600. Start the game and then change it to what you want. Just know that if you return to something like a 1920x1200 setting, it will crash again at start up.

Hey had the same problem but you can temporary fix it till an update comes along.

I am sorry if its hard to understand my windows is in dutch but i added some translation.

In the harvest.cfg in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Harvest Massive Encounter

edit firstrun = 1;

like so

Then right click the file and take properties
