Games kinda hard.

I find the game pretty hard, even on easy. I just cant seem to make even a silver turn limit without losing some of my units, and if i lose them the next map is that much harder. Any tips on playing would be appreciated.

I am not sure how good theses advices are:

always hit first with ranged attacks when it is possible
better overkill than letting an enemy unit flee and heal
take the perks for ranged weapons which allow them to protect
nearby units, so later nobody can attack a melee unit of yours without first getting a hit from your ranged units behind that melee unit
keep your units together, if you need to scout, use the air unit
you do not have to kill everything, either go for the goal and ignore everything else, so you get the bonuses for gold or silver or just ignore the silver limit and go for kills (-> experience) and scouting (artifacts). I prefer the second way because the bonuses for gold/silver are mostly units and you will have soon too many units, so more units are good for nothing. But I think everyone sees that different.

I play in normal difficulty and prefer to go for gold medal most of the time at the beginning (got all gold medals until mission 6), it gives you good units at start and the money/artefacts you get are enough to upgrade your troops. Took only silver in the mission with the dragon because i prefered to recruit it and grab some artefacts on this map.

ZanyCynic gave good hints, i could add:

- Try to finish opponent ranged units first (you should have learned this in tutorial), and generally his strong units. Don't let them rest and replenish. For weaker units it's not so important, depends on timing.

- Use your mages/ranged units to defend your front line.

- Spells can be cast on any hex you can see, not only at range (took me several games to notice it ^^).
