fix for crashing changing res or to fullscreen.

i think i managed to fix and found whats causing the crash now.

HKEY_current_user > software > Krome studios > bladekitten
find this in regedit

set res their set to decimal then type in with and height.

then set isfullscreen 1

if that does't fix the crashing then set letterboxMode to 0

hopefully this helps lot people out.

plz +rep me for if this works out for you guy's

edit:

i turned letterbox mode my self back to 1 and it started crashing again so its related to letterbox mode set this to 0 and should be fine.

also whenever game crashes you need to re edit res from registery if not able to from ingame...

i'm testing out if can be fixed from ingame now without altering registery atm.

edit: if you can put letterbox mode from ingame to non without crashing then should be fine also then after that try change res.

I am having a simmilar problem, however BK will not even load. I mean it fails to launch and windows gives me the classic program encountered a problem and needs to close error.

Like some other people, verifying the game cache failed to do anything.

The interesting thing is that I cannot find Krome Studios anywhere under regedit, So I could not try Zero's solution.

I also tried on another computer running windows vista and ran into the same problems.

windows xp
intel dual core
2gigs ram
Nvidia GeForce GT 240

So whenever I try to start up the demo, the screen goes black and I have to Alt+F4 out of it. Is this the same problem everyone here is having?

works like a dream, thank you.

there is also another possibility:

when you are in a window mode game, just go to options then change the resolution for fullscreen to your desktop resolution, leave the window mode one alone and leave the fullscreen button alone, just hit apply and it should put it on the right resolution and directly into fullscreen.

works fine like that for me and i think it's an easier solution than messing with the windows registry.

let me know if it works too for you guys. have fun ^^

Mine wouldn't let me get that far. As soon as I start the game up, I get the black screen and that's it. Oh well, glad I didn't buy the game outright. I suppose I could mess around with windowed mode commands in the launch options...

Fix doesn't work here and completely lame that this is even released with such a bug. I wanted to buy this game after trying the demo on 360 but having no gamerpoints. Do they even test this before releasing?

FYI Intel i7 930
SLi 1GB 460's (but tried without SLi)
6GB ram
Win 7 Pro x64

I still maintain that it is lame that the game is released with such an easy bug to spot. As a game tester myself for a major company this is just ridiculous.

The regedit fix worked, and it's definitely related to letterbox mode... but why would it start doing this after months of working properly? Granted I've only spent about 2 hours in total playing it, but I've had no problems getting it to run fullscreen letterboxed 16:9 until today... is it nVidia related? I think this is probably the first time I've tried playing it since I switched from my ATI card...
